Diane Irons, author of seven books explaining tried and true beauty secrets, has created a program for you to lose weight, look your best, save money, and boost your energy with her 14-Day Beauty Boot Camp. I myself did this course, even though I am under 18, the suggested age (I got permission from my doctor), and I lost 10 pounds and got rid of my junk-food cravings in two weeks. I know it may sound unbelievable, but Diane Irons knows what to do to make this work. In the program, Diane discusses various topics each day, such as saving money one day, natural beauty, secret beauty and style weapons, and more. You'll also find many of her beauty secrets, but don't buy this book primarily for those, as it does not place a big emphasis on secrets. Diane includes journal pages, where each day, you'll list things such as your goals for the program, best bargains you've found, favorite beauty secrets and tips, etc. There is also an accompanying audio CD that is inspirational and motivational. The reason why Diane's program is so effective is that she looks at your faults, and then gives you ideas and tips about how to fix them and make them your best features. She also includes easy and simple recipes to make that are delicious, so you don't have to worry about those diets that require you to eat nasty healthy foods. Each day, I listened to the CD, followed the instructions in the book, and ate one of the meals at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Within one week, I found that I was looking and feeling my best. Diane's program is excellent! I know some reviewers have put it down for being unbelievable and stupid, but believe me; it really, really does work! If it didn't, I would be giving it one star, moping about how much I hated this book. That's not the case, though. I'm so glad I followed this plan; it's really a lifesaver. Everytime I need a self-confidence boost or I need to loose some weight, I know that I'll turn to this book first. I suggest giving it a try- you most probably will love it!

Great Help for Really Losing Weight

This book really motivated my mother, 76, and me, 49, to get a grip and stick to a serious diet. This book skips all the "fad" diet tricks and prescribes a (very) low calorie diet, with clear healthy menus and specific do's and don't's. The author is serious and talks to the dieters as adults who need motivation. She calls the book "Boot Camp," because she is not writing for your entertainment but to get you there. Buy it if other "sensible" (i.e. lose a pound a week for 2 1/2 months to lose 10 pounds, right? In your dreams!) diets have failed you. As to the comments of other reviewers who felt this book repeats info given in Ms. Irons' previous books- I read this book first so it did not repeat anything to me, and when I checked her other books (at the library) I found they did not provide the specific diet in this book, but do have most of the other "tips". So this is the book to buy.

Good, but not her best!

I really like Diane Irons' books. However, this is not her best book. It does have some good parts: the CD is very motivational, and her ideas are also good. The main problem with this book is that there is too little content. There is nothing wrong with what she writes, but the book should have included more hands-on tips. The principles are interesting but some can be found elsewhere, such as decluttering, focusing and journaling. This is not necessarily something problematic, but as I have said above, there is not much content overall. Many pages consist of empty diary pages. I think this will work best for someone young or very inexperienced in the beauty field, because whereas the basics are covered, the rest is not! I think it can also be used, as she says on the CD, as a check-up on yourself. If you are well-read or informed about beauty basics, this book will probably not have anything to offer you.

I love the idea of a coach going on a weight loss program with you. That's the unique approach in 14 Day Beauty Boot Camp. Each day I put on the CD provided with the book (a great value!) and heard Diane Irons tell me what I needed to do to stay on the program and not get bored. The result is that I lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks. Plus I keep the CD in the car so that Diane can cheer me up, urge me on to look and feel my best.

Boot camp for those who want to look and feel gorgeous!

This is a fun book for those who want to kickstart a makeover. Diane Irons presents 14 days of "tasks" to accomplish to help you achieve your best. The Boot Camp begins with a simple diet that is low sugar, high protein and chalk full of complex carbohydrates and vegetables. She also gives tips on how to make the diet effective. Her suggestions include drinking green tea, filling up with fiber, drinking tons of water and more. Though I elected not to follow her menu plan, I still found the rest of her book to be worth the price. Within days I found I had streamlined my beauty routine, given my bathroom a spalike appearance through some inexpensive additions, pared down my wardrobe, cleaned my pantry and more! Diane's book gave me the "kick" I needed to get it done. Each page in the book provides tips and tricks to make your self look, and feel better physically and mentally! Day 1 of boot camp begins with decluttering your environment. A great way to start feeling in control. This is one area where Diane falters though. In one day, I was supposed to have my kitchen cleaned, wardrobe sorted, bathroom dejunked, etc. etc. These are pretty big projects and the kitchen alone can take a good day or so. So the title of the book "14 Day Beauty Boot Camp" is not truly an accurate name but its certainly catchy! What I decided to do, was follow the information for day 1. When I had completed all the tasks go on to day 2. This may take several weeks for some as cleaning out your closet, washing hairbrushes and turning your bathroom into a slice of heaven are time consuming projects! Despite the fact that the timing is not accurate, the book is still a great source of inspiration and a fun way to trim your weight, improve your wardrobe, boost energy and more! What I especially enjoy about the book is the tips Diane includes for developing that special attitude. And Diane's beauty tips are different than the common fare repeated in women's magazines. The book is easy to manage (not bulky like some of the recent beauty books on the market), and is written in an easy to read format. It comes with a bonus audio CD by Diane inspiring you each step of the way. Reading and acting on the suggestions in this book will be like having a personal trainer to help you develop your best style at a fraction of the cost!
