Nobody likes Christmas more than Canadian singer Anne Murray, who first came into the public eye back in 1970 with the million-selling crossover single "Snowbird." Since that time, Murray has recorded three Christmas albums, each soothing, unassuming celebrations of the holiday. For this two-CD collection, Murray has gone back into her own vaults and dusted off some of her personal favorites from past albums and tied them up in tinsel and a big red bow. But she didn't just rely on her existing catalog, instead heading into the studio to record some new material, giving old standards like "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas," "Let It Snow," and a well-chosen medley of children's holiday songs her same straightforward approach. While there are few surprises under this tree, it's nice to have some traditions that you can count on, and Murray's warm heart and steady voice is one of them. Also on board for this sleigh ride is the prestigious London Symphony Orchestra, which is featured on six songs, including "Silent Night," "Away in the Manger," and "Winter Wonderland." --Jaan Uhelszki

This has been our Christmas CD for years. In fact, we wore the first one out and bought this replacement. Couldn't be happier that it is still available. Super price and delivery also.

What a wonderful CD! The entire family enjoyed her music choices and her voice as we listened to this over the Christmas holidays. I wish she would make more.

This is a very good Christmas album, though not great (where is "What Child is This?", also known as "Greensleeves", and "The Cherry Tree Carol"?), and I could have lived without "The Santa Medley" (I don't like songs hacked to pieces). I did hear a couple of new songs I had never heard (or even heard of) before--"Christmas in Killarney", a jolly old Irish tune, and "This Season Will Never Grow Old", a song that just sounds like home for the holidays, sitting in front of a glowing hearth, drinking hot cocoa, the melody of carolers and the tolling of church bells adding to the ambiance. I did also like "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" and "Mary`s Little Boy Child", though it seemed more like a gospel hymn than a Christmas song. I also like "Away in a Manger" sung the traditional way; I suppose Ms. Murray thought she would add variety by singing the first and third verse the alternative way (which is faster) but I didn't like it. At least she did reprise the first verse sung the right way. The real earsore (as in eyesore) was "Go Tell it on the Mountain", which is a great song, but she botched it. Now don't take this the wrong way, but it sounded like it would be sung in a black church, and though that may be some people's thing, it certainly isn't mine, just like I prefer Vince Gill and Dolly Parton's version of "I Will Always Love You" over Whitney Houston's (who I thought butchered it--it was caterwauling to me). Still, this set of twenty-eight songs is definitely worth the money as I have yet to find a CD that has this many good songs on it.

This is by far one of the greatest Christmas compilations I've bought yet. Anne's rendition of "O Little Town of Bethlehem" still brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it - also, "Silent Night" will put chills up your spine - she makes you feel like your in the church holding a candle in the dark as she stands at the pulpit and you are the only one in the church."O Canada" - We love Anne Murray!!
